‘You can’t talk your way out of what you’ve behaved yourself into’ -Dr. Stephen Covey
Like most posts, this one is as much a message to myself as it is guidance for others. I have made this mistake for the first 35 years of my life. I could find the silver lining in any situation and explain how it was not my fault. Sometimes I could put a spin on it as if I was the hero that escaped the situation. Sometimes I could pull the wool over someone’s eyes, but usually I’d get the stare from others that said, ‘Something doesn’t seem right with his story’. Sometimes I got the more serious, ‘This guy is full of sh*t!’ look. Deep down, I knew that I wasn’t telling the whole truth.
Ultimately, you can’t run forever. You need to have the courage to look in the mirror and take ownership for the mistakes you’ve made and the poor decisions that got you where you are. Then you can come up with a plan, stick to the plan, and create a better future for yourself!
Never stop believing in yourself! Talk to you tomorrow 🙂
