People are going to be quick to point out your flaws. You can’t avoid it(as much as you might want to). Sometimes it is from a place of love so they can help you get better. Other times it is just to make them feel better by trying to bring you down to their level. But the one thing I can assure you is that just as reliable as the change of the seasons, you can be sure it’s coming. Sometimes it is in your best interest to try to work on it, other times you need to follow the advice of the great philosopher Taylor Swift, ‘shake it off’.
Personally, I have been told many times that I am too nice. Sometimes as a compliment, but more often as criticism. I was told that I need to be more of a (choose your expletive) if I want to be successful. I tried that for a period of time but not with much success. I was so overwhelmed with trying to change that I was always angry. I was always looking around angry, waiting for someone to treat me like a pushover. Ultimately, I was so miserable, that I burned myself out and wound up much less successful at the time.
Continue to work on your opportunities, but never at the expense of removing what truly makes you special!
Never stop believing in yourself! Talk to you tomorrow 🙂

In the journey of life we should never stop growing and pushing ourselves to be the best version of ourselves. You said it well though-don’t lose that thing that makes you so special. Your kindness is one of the many reasons I love you so much! But only give kindness to those who are kind to you. If someone disrespects you it’s ok to put up boundaries with grace. Proud of you handsome!

Had to chuckle at your “great philosopher” comment. You have a beautiful blog. I think I’ll follow, even if you are a Steelers fan (dyed in the wool Cowboys fan here.)

Also, your “About” page made me think of Seth Gobin. He has an amazing blog that, on the surface, is about business, but is really about how to succeed in life. Here is the particular post that your ‘about’ made me think of: http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2017/09/selfish-marketing-always-fails.html

It’s Monday morning, I am “precoffee” and very new to wordpress, so I’m not sure I’m doing this right or that you will even see my comment. With hopes that you will though, I wanted to say Thank you for sharing your positive outlook. The first line of your post says “we should never stop growing and pushing ourselves to be the best version of ourselves.” I wish more people got the ourselves part. I’m not in competition with anyone but myself, but I think many people are trying to compete with OTHER people in effort to better themselves. We all need to take a look at ourselves first. Great post! Beautiful page 🙂

Always be yourself and if kind is it, then be it. I understand fully. But I have to say, people get envious of a kind person and try to bring you down. Why, because they are unhappy in life and/or with themselves. They wonder why one is so happy even if they know you have less. I did have to learn to say “no” a few times. Only you can monitor that. Watch the users disappear but the true friends respect it.

Well said. There is really nothing wrong with being too nice. It’s who you are and you should be proud of your special trait. Just love certain people from a distance were they can not harm you by taking your niceness for granted.

Hey Dan! I can totally relate to this. When someone tells you you’re too much (whatever adjective) you start thinking of ways to lay low but then you’d find yourself not happy with it because it’s not YOU anymore. Thats why i agree with you, being too much of a person is not a disease or something terrible, it’s but a gift, and just like what you said, it’s what makes us special ❤️
