The title is part of one of my favorite quotes, made most famous by Abraham Lincoln. Like many people, I have a strong need to be liked. I am a people pleaser and in a perfect world, I would be liked at all times. Sadly life doesn’t work that way. As a leader, you need to understand that you will be criticized often and people will often disagree with the actions you make or don’t make. It’s part of the game.
Before you take anything personally, remember the following quote:
“You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time. But you cannot please all of the people, all of the time!” – John Lydgate.
Never stop believing in yourself! Talk to you soon 🙂
-Dan Sims.
Absolutely my favourite too !!!

So true. I am a Maintenance Director for an assisted living company, a “Thankless job” so people just come to me with problems all day, every day. Sometimes my response is just ” If I could find a way to make everyone happy, I would write a book and be a billionaire”

Remember that fortune cookie I got that read “don’t let snide remarks bother you.” This reminds me of that. You can’t win everyone over. You just have to focus on your own responsibilities and job. Love this post and love you!

Agreed, and it’s actually more of a shame, that we see it as a game.
